(Hamossad lemodiin uletafkidim meyuhadim = the institute for intelligence and special operations)

established in 1949 under orders of then prime minister Ben Gurion. It is the equivalent of the CIA in the USA. It is responsible for collection of intelligence outside of Israel, covert operations and counterrorism.
