THE AMERICAN FRIENDS OF THE ISRAEL INTELLIGENCE HERITAGE AND
COMMEMORATION CENTER (AFIICC)

Founded in 1982 by veterans of the Israeli Intelligence Community and families of fallen operatives with the purposes of commemoration, perpetuation of the heritage of Israeli Intelligence Research, and Education, the center has been operational and very active since. It’s first Chairman and Founder was Late Major General Meir Amit, former Director of IDF intelligence and, later on, Director of Mossad. The current chairman is Major General (RET) Aaron Zeevi Farkash., former Director of IDF intelligence. The current Director of the center is Brigadier General (ret) Yuval Halamish. The former directors of the Mossad, Shin Bet, and millitary intelligence serve on our advisory board. The center has over 4000 members, mostly former intelligence operatives.

The IICC honors the lives and careers of over 700 fallen in the line of duty from all branches of the intelligence community, many still undisclosed. The center remains in close contact with those bereaved families through events, maintenance of biographical material on the lives of their loved ones, and individual support of those families. In addition, the center oversees over 20 commemorative foundations that provide scholarships and grants to active operatives in various units of the IDF intelligence, Mossad, and Israeli security services who take an academic break during their service.

A yearly commemorative ceremony for the fallen is held in the center and attended by the Directors of the Mossad, Shin Bet, military intelligence, and sometimes the Prime Minister, as well as senior officials.

The center is Active in public education. It is an educational destination for Israeli youth of all geographical and social spheres, and now, the diaspora Jewry. Its library contains the largest documentation on terrorism and Israeli intelligence in the world. It is often used by Israeli and foreign academics and government officials.

The Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism information center is a key component of the IICC. It concentrates on research and analysis of Middle Eastern affairs, Palestinian terrorism, Iran, the fight against anti-Semitism and BDS, and other social issues as they relate to Israel’s and world Jewish communities’ security. Its publications are highly respected and considered to be factual, reliable, free of propaganda, and reflective of the Israeli intelligence community’s views. They are often used by various Jewish organizations, international media, and governments, helping with their foreign policy. (www.terrorism-info.org.il)
